Rule Of Reciprocity - Understanding Spending Money On Dating Women

Have you ever been into this kind of situation that men gone through with women?
A situation regarding spending money on women - specifically for dates.

- How much is enough?
- How much is too much?
- Should you spend as little as possible until you've sealed the deal with her?

One thing is for sure: You don't want to shell out your hard-earned cash on a woman who strings you along, gives you an awkward hug good night, and then blows off your phone calls.

Unfortunately, a lot of guys feel there is a financial 'price' for playing the dating game. They figure, if you're going to get a girl (or land a quality girlfriend), you're going to have to wine and dine a bunch of different women.

They also think if you manage to get a date with a seriously hot chick, a '9' or a '10', you'd better be ready to spend generously: dinners at nice restaurants, rounds of drinks at expensive nightclubs, concert tickets, gifts, etc.

I had a conversation with a group of friend the other day.
We were talking about getting hot girls in a club.
He told us that we gotta buy them drinks to get them to come to you.
I was like, 'No dude! No!'

Yea.
They may come to you, but then they will leave after that.
Who doesn't want FREE drinks anyway?
Giving around all over the place..

After all, that's what these women expect from men. If you want to take your shot, you're going to have to suck it up and drop down the Visa card.

Right?

Wrong.

Don't be in such a hurry to toss your cash around!

The truth is, when you spend substantial amounts of money on a woman you've just begun to date, you're actually making things more difficult for yourself, and creating a bad expectation.

It's like, you are buying their approval to get them attracted to you.
You just met them, just begun dating them and you show this to a women, things will go very difficult next time round my friends.

It's an exception if it's already the 3rd date upwards with the same girl.

There is a principle of persuasion that salespeople use on customers called the Rule of Reciprocity.

(A good salesman is essentially a "pickup artist" for his products and company.)

Basically, this rule states that when you do something for someone, no matter how minor, that person is going to feel obligated to repay you. In fact, he will feel UNCOMFORTABLE until he gets rid of this debt hanging over his head.

It's human nature. People never want to feel indebted, or that they 'owe' someone.

Members of the Hare Krishna cult used to hang around airports, with their shaved heads and yellow robes handing out flowers to people and trying to get donations.

Those little flowers are another example of the Rule of Reciprocity. When they hand someone a flower, the person is subconsciously going to feel obligated.

Usually, the person will hand over a dollar to the Krishna just to overcome that awkward feeling and be on their way (even though they'll probably toss the flower in the trash a moment later, which the Krishnas then collect and give away again).

So in exchange for giving away something totally worthless, the Krishna pockets $1. Those dollars add up when you're doing it all day long, every day.

And it's all because they play on the guilty feeling you experience when someone gives you something for 'free' and puts you in the position of feeling like you 'owe' them - even if they don't say it explicitly.

- Carlos Xuma

Here's more of an everyday situation:

You run into an old friend of yours, someone you haven't seen for years. He invites you out for dinner and drinks. At the end of the night, he insists on picking up the tab: $200. You want to split the check, but he insists on paying.

Sure, you appreciate the gesture, but it also makes you feel a little bit guilty and awkward. Your instincts are telling you, you've got to take this guy out in the near future and pay for HIS meal. You've been hit by the Rule of Reciprocity.

Now, a lot of guys use this law to try and obligate a woman into affection or sex, or even a relationship with him. They think that if they can just buy enough meals, or drinks, or gifts - if they can just financially guilt a woman into it, she'll start to be attracted to him.

This is faulty thinking for two primary reasons:

1) Women are highly sensitive to this principle when it's used as a coercive tactic. A woman of good moral fiber might go out to dinner with you once, but once she's determined that there's no "spark," she's gone. (A woman of low moral fiber will just see how much she can milk you for.)

2) Emotions are not created by guilt. Sexual attraction is created through Alpha Behaviors - not obligation.

In the early stages of any romantic relationship with a woman, you need to keep the spending inconspicuous.

Remember: YOU are the one doing the interview for the most important position you will ever hire someone for. Don't ever play the part of the desperate stooge.

So how does this translate into the world of dating and attraction?

The Rule of Reciprocity can also be used to your advantage in various ways once you're involved with a woman. Since you never want women to take you for granted, and you always want them to respect your time and effort, there are all kinds of ways to make your gestures seem like 'favors' that women will feel obligated to repay.

A lot of guys are running around applying "pickup artist" tactics, but not knowing how they really work. It's like learning a few chords on a guitar but not knowing how to play them in key - or with the right timing. Your own approaches and conversations with women will feel hollow and false.

Usually, never get involve in a 'financial dispute' during a date...
Make it like a favour between both parties.
eg. I bought you drinks.
Next, food on you. etc.
Make it Fun.
Don't make it like a hassle.

The good news is that this is something that you can start to fix RIGHT NOW.

No therapy.

No kooky New Age breathing rituals.

All you have to do is bring a willingness to overcome your fears and grow in new dimensions.

Why You Should Never Do 'Dinner & Movie'

When you hear the word "Dating," what's the first thing you think of?

Dinner and a Movie?!

After all, isn't that the "typical" date?

Isn't that the first thing that comes to mind when you want to go out with
a girl?

(well, maybe it's the second, but you
get my drift. =)

That is what I used to think of. Growing up, that's all I heard about when my friends asked women on dates...

"I'm gonna take her to a nice restaurant,
and then we're going to see a movie!"

Blah, blah, blah.

Look, if you don't know this by now, you should --

Dinner and a Movie is a HORRIBLE idea!

Why?

Because: Every guy does it!

Especially, Movie Dates when u just met her for the first time!

There is nothing special to it. Every date a girl goes on consists of dinner and a movie.

(A tip by a girl friend of mine: A girl do appreciate dinner and a movie because they are being paid for by men.
Who do not want a FREE MEAL eh? But that doesn't meant a girl is attracted to a guy just because of a dinner or movie. )

If you want to be truly great at romancing women, you need to be different from all the other guys out there!

You NEED to stand out.

Because being different is a sure-fire way to get a girl interested in you.

Here's the basic problem with dinner and
a movie...

People tend to be self conscious when they
eat.

And you have no chance to demonstrate any personality or strengthen connections while sitting quietly in a dark movie theater. You are not talking in a theatre...
Both of you will be like, staring at the screen with occasional talk about the show that is being screen.

Sure, dinner and a movie might be fun once you're seeing the girl regularly.

But until that time, it's the dating equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot!

So what's a guy to do?

Simple: BE DIFFERENT.

Take her out to do something FUN, where you can interact with her.

Things like:

Going for a bowling game
Taking her to the racetrack.
Checking out the zoo.
Playing at a video arcade.
Go for a cycling trip

These are all things no one thinks about when they think "date."

BUT, they can be fun and very effective.

And the possibilities are endless!

Take it a date as, doing something fun with someone you wanna be with!
(i don't usually use the term Dating but to me it is more of a 'Meet-up')

Just check your local newspaper and look at what kind of cool events are taking place
in your area, and then...

INVITE women to join you in doing them!

YOU will instantly STAND OUT!

On top of that, with solid dating knowledge, you can take it to the next level!

Eight Dating Myths Exposed!

BUSTED!

Dating myths that you ought to know =D

Dating blarney: Busted!
By Kimberly Dawn Neumann

I found and gathered an array of dating blarney we’d like to see permanently obliterated. Learn what our experts have to say, and you may soon be on your way to finding relationship gold that’s not hidden at the end of the rainbow.

Bit of blarney #1: There’s no such thing as love at first sight.
Reality: Actually, there is... but interestingly, it happens more often for men than for women. “Men can fall in love instantaneously when they lay eyes on someone attractive because they’re so visual,” says Dr. Helen Fisher, a noted anthropologist at Rutgers University and author of Why We Love. Women, on the other hand, are biologically programmed to “fall” differently: Since women aren’t as visual, they’re slower to feel smitten. “Women at least have to talk to the person!” she says.

Bit of blarney #2: Men should always pay for a first date.
Reality: If a woman invites you, you are her guest and she pays. “Stop the diving-for-the-wallet dance,” says etiquette expert Gloria Starr. “The person who asks is the person who pays. Women can and should plan dates.” But Starr cautions against going Dutch from square one—let one person or the other pay. She says that dividing the check is a bad way to begin a new relationship, because it sends a message that neither one of you is investing in the bond.

Bit of blarney #3: Single women rearrange their schedule to see a guy they like.
Reality: “In a study of hundreds of Americans, we found that men were more likely to change their patterns and habits to be available for women,” says Dr. Fisher. So, if a man is interested in a woman, he might actually be the one waiting by the phone or obsessively checking his email so that he can redo his schedule to see his sweetie.

Bit of blarney #4: If a guy doesn’t immediately show his interest, he doesn’t really like you.
Reality: Actually, the reverse is more likely to be true. If a guy likes you and doesn’t want to mess things up, he’s more likely to move slowly. “Some of the worst dating disasters I’ve heard of involve men who dazzle with their insistence that you’re ‘The One’ right after they meet you,” says Dalma Heyn, therapist and author of Drama Kings: The Men Who Drive Strong Women Crazy. “You feel flattered and thrilled, get intimate, and then he’s gone! He only wanted to woo you, not win you.”

Bit of blarney #5: Play hard-to-get to land a man.
Reality: This belief usually goes hand-in-hand with some others, like a woman should never call a man, always pretend to be busy, and never say yes to a date unless it’s far in advance, right? Wrong. When it comes to dating, there are no hard-and-fast rules to follow,” says Joni Mantell, a psychotherapist and love coach who practices in New York and New Jersey. Yes, hard-to-get can be a quality that confident people possess—confident people are more discerning. “But fake confidence or toughness creates distance,” cautions Mantell. Develop confidence and your own rules, and the right partner will get you, difficult or not!

Bit of blarney #6: It’s always a mistake to date someone at work.
Reality: “It often works, if you are smart about it,” says Ronna Lichtenberg, author of Pitch Like a Girl: How A Woman Can Be Herself And Still Succeed. Lichtenberg suggests some ground rules: Don't date more than one person interoffice, and only go for it when the chemistry is definitely there—i.e., do not use your cubicle as a regular pick-up joint. Of course, you should stick to common sense and corporate rules regarding boss-subordinate dating. Make sure you both agree beforehand on what you’ll tell your coworkers. Finally, Lichtenberg advises, “Don’t do it if you are prone to bad break-ups. And don’t lie—you know if you are.”

Bit of blarney #7: Sex is just an animal urge for men.
Reality: Actually, Dr. Fisher says that men tend to regard sex as more intimate than women. “It’s easier for a woman to find someone to have sex with her if she wants it,” she says. “For women, sex is a real gift to men. Men have to do the courting, so when they get sex, they feel a closeness because they’ve ‘earned’ it,” says Dr. Fisher. Too bad that doesn’t always extend to the post-coital cuddle!

Bit of blarney #8: Women can’t deal when a relationship ends.
Reality: Studies show that three out of four people who become extremely upset and take drastic measures post-break-up are men. Says Dr. Fisher, “It’s a myth that women take break-ups harder!” Sure, women are bummed (enter weepy movie marathons and Chubby Hubby), but since more guys are raised without the tools to deal with their feelings, they tend to be the ones who actually flip out after a bad break-up. Lesson learned? Toss a pint of ice cream to your guy friends who are mourning a break-up, too.
